The project will provide a digital documentation of the current status of the whole shell bed. Considering the case of natural disasters or deliberately destruction, the expected highly detailed digital model serves for multiple purposes:

  • It represents a snapshot of the entire excavation site enabling future interpretation and analysis based on not yet known scientific experiences, careless if the on-site situation has been modified.
  • The oyster biostrome is a protected site and this digital model may serve in future as the basis for conservational purposes. 
  • The project is a key-study for integrating smart technologies in scientific analysis of huge geometric and image data in geosciences.
